Welcome
My prayer is you would encounter God here, as you explore with me this passage of John 17, a passage which I believe contains some his most intimate revelations.
I spent decades pursuing God, cultivating intimacy, seeking to encounter him, drawing near. In those decades, God never failed to meet me, to surprise me, to reveal himself to me.
But when he drew me to John 17, and began to unveil that passage to me, the revelation became nothing short of astounding, unimaginable; many times it left me breathless. The things of God I saw in his Son Jesus, in those final, frail moments of his life, left me forever ruined.
Months of meditation in this passage turned into years. Even now, I can rarely go more than a few days without turning again to this remarkable prayer. These intimate words, Son to Father, have eternally changed me.
I hope my own sojourn in John 17 can be a launching place for you, as you encounter God as I have, and encounter Jesus in an intimacy that will I pray, stay with you all your days.

Take these meditations in small doses, carry them into your place of worship, your most intimate and tender moments with Jesus, and let him meet you there. Meet him there, for his eternal cry is, as always, "be with me."
