I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one. John 17:22. NIV

“I have given them the glory..." What are the limits of that statement? How much of that glory is given? Jesus is the king of glory! His face outshines the sun. His eyes blaze and burn like fire. His voice is like the sound of rushing water. His hands hold the stars. He comes with unthinkable brilliance. What of that has he so bestowed on his people?

He walked on the earth as one in command. He exuded authority. Countless many feared him, many more loved him. He walked without faltering; every step measured. No one could best him, and even when they were seeking to destroy him, he rose above in every situation. Death itself could not best him. All that glory, is it also given?

He walked with grace and precision. He healed with a word, he freed those in torment, he spoke dignity to the faltering. He spoke words that cut to the heart. He rebuked leaders, and honored the marginalized. He was deeply loved, and deeply despised. He was at once the loveliest, and most powerful man one would ever meet. Has he given that glory as well?

There is perhaps no limit to the honor he bestows, the measure of the glory given is limited only by his limitless generosity and grace. It is his nature to give, and there is no bounding that nature. He has honored his beloved, and will honor her forever, esteeming her above all creation. She, above all things, a little lower than God himself, will be radiant with the very splendor of her beloved. She will shine as he shines, and her splendor will radiate right back to him she both worships and adores! She, in a magnificent way, is in fact his glory, and he is hers.

Understand this truth, believe it, and your presence on earth will be both terrible and wonderful. You will rule, you will command, you will walk as a king or queen, owning every situation, prevailing over every adversity. You will love and be loved, and you will die in the splendor of that love with a life well lived.

Brilliant Lord, I stand upon your majesty. I am filled with your radiance; I am saturated with your splendor. My life is built on your limitless glory. I rise to that destiny; I embrace that identity. I decree my life a blinding reflection of that brilliance that unearths the dead, that tears down kingdoms, that casts mountains to the sea, that destroys disease, that shatters bondage, that loves with a fury, a life changing fury, and comes with a furious insistence on hope.
